Kenny and I just returned from an unforgettable 12 days in the Galapagos Islands, 8 days aboard ship and 4 solo on the islands of Isabela and Santa Cruz. Though initially we had intended to fly to the islands independently and day trip to nearby sites, we found a last minute deal in Quito aboard the Yate Floreana.
It was difficult to think back on our journey to Thailand this past December without vividly recalling the myriad of temples that dotted the countryside. These beautiful structures were an integral part of the landscape and culture of Thailand which for us stood out as the physical representation of our departure from the ‘Western’ world.
“Have you ever been to Narnia?” This question, delivered by our guide ‘Old’ Tim, was our first introduction to Norris Geyser Basin as we approached the trailhead. I was confused by the reference at first until we began our descent into the snow covered forrest surrounding this area.
