Here it is!!! After many weeks of researching where our RTW journey will go, we have a general outline to share!
Our goal is to stay on the road for 18 months and visit all seven continents if possible. (Still trying to figure out a cost effective way of getting to Antarctica). A general time breakdown will include 5 months in South America including 2-3 weeks in Antarctica, 3 months in Africa, 3 months in Europe, 6 months in Asia and a month in Australia/New Zealand before returning home to the USA.
I’m sure this itinerary will be changing a little here and there over the next few months as we finalize our plans. FYI – with regards to the map, red lines are travel by air, blue lines over land and green lines are by boat.
We have been using AirTreks quite a bit in the process of planning our trip because of the ease of using their website and lack of regulations regarding the number of ‘segments’ booked or direction traveled. BootsnAll recently published a very helpful article which outlined the pros and cons of eight different methods/companies specializing in getting you around the world. For us, AirTreks has so far made the most sense because of their general lack of travel restrictions. As always, nothing is set in stone until that flight is officially booked.
